Staircase

Commands:

INITSCASE          Initiates start values of a Staircase

USESCASE          Activates Staircase for the next block

This group of commands configures and applies a staircase process to one of the parameters of the next block. Both commands reference a STAIRCASE definition which must have been defined before.

While the STAIRCASE definition defines the characteristics of the up/down staircase process itself, the two session commands are used to configure a Staircase to the specific value range of an parameter, and assign the process to a block or a subset of trials of a block.

You can also define multiple Staircases to one block to have multiple staircase processes running interwoven.

Staircases are automatically disabled after one block execution and must be re-initiated in order to be used again for another block.
