Links the Staircase value to either a variable argument of a trial definition or to the index of trial specifications

0 Use the staircase value to select the corresponding trial specification from within a block definition. The value range must be between 1 .. N and step sizes must be integers to always generate valid index into the block definition.

> 0 The staircase value will be applied to the i-th variable argument of a trial definition. You must still specify the vale for the variable argument in the block definition, but the staircase will overwrite this value with its current value according to the up/down process.
